Matkahuolto’s new shop-in-shop service has been launched. The service allows online merchants using Matkahuolto’s parcel services to sell their products or increase online visibility.
The project to develop the service, shopinshop.fi, started in September 2012. The virtual marketplace is based on the Anders Multicommerce solution.
The online service is suitable for all users of Matkahuolto’s parcel services, who want launch a new online store, or have an existing e-commerce site. If the merchant already has an online store, link to the original store is displayed as a part of product information in the shop-in-shop.
Online merchants receive information regarding new orders from the shop-in-shop service. They can also log-in to view detailed statistics on sales and received clicks.
According to Matkahuolto’s Business Manager Juha Wallin the shop-in-shop is especially designed to help small and medium-sized online stores to increase their digital footprint. Visitors are driven to the store through Matkahuolto’s website with over a million monthly visitors.
“ShopInShop serves as a good additional sales channel for established online merchants and provides an exciting opportunity for small entrepreneurs to use it as their distribution channel”, Wallin says.
All product deliveries –and possible product returns – are handled by Matkahuolto’s parcel deliveries. The system provides a very customer friendly experience, as Matkahuolto has the most extensive delivery network in Finland. The network consists of almost 1100 parcel delivery destinations.
The channel payment service for the shop-in-shop is developed by Suomen Verkkomaksut. Thanks to the new technology shopping carts can be paid with a single payment even though it contains products from different stores. The payment is automatically split between the various merchants.
